Lake Biwa is abundantly blessed with nature, migratory birds in winter and various kinds of fresh water fish.
Shizuka-rou serves 'Ko-Koku(present Shiga Prefecture)' local cuisine at a fishing village by Lake Biwa.
We hope that you will enjoy our specialties, using fresh-water fish such as hon-moroko(minnow), unagi(eel-fish),and ayu(sweet fish).

Our restaurant 'Shizuka-Rou' serves fresh water fish dishes, using natural ingredients mainly from in and around Lake Biwa.

Shizuko (see the picture) was the founder and the first okami(proprietress) of Shizuka-rou.
She was born in 1896, as a daughter of 'ISEYA' , a long-established inn in Katata.
Famous calligraphers and influential politicians like Tsutomu Inukai and Yukio Ozaki were given her warm hospitality.
Shizuka-rou was established as a branch of 'ISEYA' almost 100 years ago.
Because"ISEYA" already closed its business, we hope to inherit the taste of 'Ko-koku' local cuisine and pass it down to the next generations.
